The Problem

Alongside woodworking and art, I spend a lot of my free time gold panning and hunting for gemstones. It's a niche enough hobby that there's barely any off-the-shelf gear for it — most of us end up building and adapting our own equipment.

For a gold-washing rig I'd built myself, I needed a specific bearing housing. Wood wasn't going to cut it — I needed something stable, lightweight, and able to handle the weather. What I was really after was a plastic part built exactly around my setup, not a compromise.

What We Did Together

Leafy Greens AG and I worked through the design together, built entirely around my rig and the parts I was already using. I got to weigh in on the design as it took shape, and we paid close attention to stability, fit, and how easily it would slot into what I already had running. In the end, the part was made from PETG-CF and fitted with a proper stainless steel bearing.

The Result

It fit straight into my rig, no adjustments needed. PETG-CF plus stainless steel gave me something light, strong, and rust-proof — exactly what you want for a part that's going to live in wet, demanding conditions.
