The Problem

Besides woodworking and art, I spend a large part of my free time gold panning and searching for gemstones. It's such a niche hobby that ready-made off-the-shelf equipment is hard to come by — most of us build and adapt our own gear.

For a self-built gold panning rig, I needed a specific bearing housing. Wood was out of the question — I needed something sturdy, lightweight, and weatherproof. What I really wanted was a plastic part tailored exactly to my setup, no compromises.

What We Did Together

Leafy Greens AG and I worked out the design together, tailored entirely to my rig and the parts already in use. I was able to give input throughout the development process, and we paid close attention to stability, fit, and easy integration into my existing system. In the end, the part was made from PETG-CF and fitted with a genuine stainless steel bearing.

The Result

It fit straight into my rig, no adjustments needed. PETG-CF and stainless steel together made for something lightweight, tough, and rust-free — exactly what you need for a part exposed to wet and demanding conditions.

What I appreciated most was that something truly custom was created, instead of settling for a standard part that didn't quite fit.
